The Carpet Capital 10 Miler

The popular Carpet Capital 10 Miler returns for 2024, reaffirming its status as a staple of the local running calendar. Scheduled for December 7, 2024, the race will start at Varnell Elementary School in Dalton, Georgia, following a scenic out-and-back route on Old Prater’s Mill Road and McGaughey Chapel Road. Participants can expect a USATF certified course, offering an opportunity to compete in one of only a few certified 10-mile races in Georgia.

This event has a rich history dating back to 1988 and has contributed significantly to local youth athletics programs, donating over $2,500 in the last two years alone. In 2024, the race organizers will also accept grant applications from area youth athletics programs. Runners and spectators can enjoy post-race chili at the finish line, and it's important to note that no race day registration will be available this year.
