Race Description
The annual Top Gun Night Run 6k is set to take place on Friday, September 13, at Lee Victory Recreation Park in Smyrna, TN. The event, starting at 7:30 p.m., will see participants race along a 3.7-mile course that features the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport and the local golf course, culminating at the Capt. Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial. This chip-timed and USATF certified run will be limited to 650 entrants and will include live music and various food trucks for entertainment.
This event honors Captain Jeff Kuss, who tragically lost his life during a performance with the US Navy Blue Angels in 2016. Proceeds from the Top Gun Night Run will contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the memorial dedicated to him, as well as fund the Memorial Scholarship established in 2023. Community support has been integral in establishing this tribute, which prominently features a retired Blue Angel aircraft as a centerpiece.
