Race Description
The Stowe Derby, one of North America's oldest and most unique ski races, is set to take place on February 23, 2025. Originating in 1945 from a bet between two renowned skiers, Sepp Ruschp and Erling Strom, the race challenges competitors to ski from the peak of Mt. Mansfield to the village of Stowe, requiring skill and endurance on a single pair of skis.
Participants can choose between the Long Course, covering approximately 20 km of varying terrain with a vertical drop of nearly 2,700 feet, or the Derby Short Course, suitable for children ages 6 and above. Expected to attract a mix of elite skiers and recreational enthusiasts, the event is open for registration and promises both competitive racing and a festive atmosphere.
