Race Description
The Salem Holiday Festivus 5k is set to return on December 29, 2024, after its successful debut run in 2022. This unique event combines the traditional holiday spirit with a lighthearted twist, inspired by the Festivus celebrations popularized by the television show Seinfeld. Participants are encouraged to don their best Christmas, Santa, or Ugly Sweater costumes as they gather to celebrate the fun and festivities of the season.
The race will kick off at 10:30 AM at the Gerry Frank Rotary Pavilion in Salem Riverfront Park. Competitors will take part in various challenges, including a wall sit and push-ups, before embarking on a 5k run. With prizes for costume categories and no chip timing, this event promotes a relaxed atmosphere, welcoming both walkers and runners alike. Registration is currently open, and participants are reminded to arrive early as spots are limited.
