Race Description
On October 19, 2024, the North Coventry Police Department will host its 4th Annual S.O.S 5K event aimed at raising both money and awareness for suicide prevention. This race highlights a critical issue, emphasizing that every 11 minutes someone in the U.S. takes their own life and that first responders face a suicide rate that is twice as high as the general public.
Participants of the race can also take part in a unique opportunity to reduce their total race time through a weightlifting challenge, adding a fun twist to the event. A portion of the proceeds will support local organizations dedicated to suicide prevention, reinforcing the community's collective effort to address this pressing crisis and encourage open discussions surrounding mental health issues.
