Race Description
Western Carolina University is set to host its 15th annual Mountain Heritage Day 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The family-friendly event welcomes both runners and walkers, featuring a chip-timed race that navigates through the university's scenic campus, offering a mix of pavement and gravel paths. The race is designed to cater to participants of all levels, ensuring a fun and engaging experience.
Following the race, participants are encouraged to enjoy the Mountain Heritage Day festival, which marks its 50th anniversary this year. This vibrant celebration of Southern Appalachian mountain culture includes live music, food and craft vendors, and a variety of family-friendly activities, with no admission fee required for festival access. Proceeds from the race will support the Sport Management Association Scholarship Fund.
