Race Description
The Inky Lunta 78 Challenge is a tribute event honoring Gary Engstrom, a renowned sports figure from Ironwood, who would have been 78 this year. This event also pays homage to his close friend, Jonathan A Erickson. Participants are encouraged to engage in various physical activities over a span of 78 days, symbolizing both the age of Gary and the legacy he leaves behind.
Scheduled to begin on March 1, 2025, the participants can choose from different challenge options, including 78 minutes, hours, kilometers, or miles of physical activity. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jonathan A Erickson Fund dedicated to mental health projects in the Gogebic Range, with an emphasis on promoting fitness and community spirit.
