Race Description
The Hearts of Gold Classic 5K Run/Walk is set to take place on December 7, 2024, at Ben Geren Regional Park in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This holiday-themed event will support Project Compassion's Hearts of Gold Christmas gifts program designed for nursing home residents who may not have friends or family to celebrate with. Timed by Jaymax Race Timing, the event promises a festive atmosphere with participants encouraged to wear holiday attire such as Santa hats and ugly sweaters.
In honor of Dr. Eric J. Stein, a well-respected optometrist and advocate for the elderly and pets, the event will not only be a chance to run or walk but also a celebration of his impactful life. The Stein family encourages participants to bring new, non-skid socks to donate to nursing home residents. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, as well as finisher medals for all participants. Registration is open until November 27 for those seeking a guaranteed t-shirt size.
