Race Description
The 501 Running Club is set to host the annual pre-race and post-race Sanctuary at the Fort Pontchartrain Hotel in Downtown Detroit on October 20, 2024. This event will cater to both runners and spectators attending the Detroit Free Press Marathon and Half-Marathon, providing a comfortable space to relax before and after the races. Located just blocks from the Start and Finish lines, the Sanctuary will offer complimentary refreshments and gear-check services.
Participants can access the Sanctuary starting at 5:15 am, with the venue remaining open until 3:00 pm. The cost for entry is $15 per person, with free access for children under 12. As part of the event, organizers emphasize the importance of comfortable facilities, including private bathrooms and monitored gear check areas, to ensure a pleasant experience for all attendees. Note that the Sanctuary is a separate entity and not officially associated with the Detroit Free Press Marathon.
