Race Description
The Blue Heron Hundreds is set to take place on March 29-30, 2025, at the picturesque Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in Mooresville, Alabama. This inaugural event features distances of 100 miles, 100K, 40 miles, and a marathon, appealing to both seasoned ultra runners and new participants alike. The event celebrates the rich natural habitat of the refuge, which is renowned for its wintering populations of migratory birds, particularly the endangered whooping crane and the great blue heron.
Participants can expect a scenic course that showcases the area's wildlife and natural beauty, with a portion of the race's proceeds benefiting the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Association to support their conservation efforts. Additionally, the event includes shorter runs, such as the Singing River 10k and 5k, providing opportunities for all levels of runners.
