Race Description
The Big Bend Ultra, an ultra trail race held annually since 2004, is set to take place on January 18, 2026, in Terlingua, Texas. This unique event, known for its challenging logistics and breathtaking scenery, attracts both competitive runners and adventure seekers eager to experience the natural beauty of Big Bend National and State Parks, which cover over 300,000 acres.
This year, organizers Carroll Voss, Erik Stanley, and the dedicated team of Trail Roots volunteers are optimistic about hosting the best race yet. Participants will not only compete in extreme conditions but also take advantage of some of the clearest night skies for stargazing in the lower 48 states due to the park's minimal light pollution.
