Race Description
The Because of the Brave 5K is set to take place on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, starting at 7:00 AM at the American Village in Montevallo, Alabama. This event honors the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the United States, emphasizing a spirit of remembrance and community rather than competition. Participants will carry a 2' x 3' American flag during the event to symbolize their tribute.
The 5K course features a scenic 1.55-mile loop on paved surfaces, allowing for easy access for strollers and wheelchairs. With no timing or race awards, the focus remains on honoring the fallen. Runners can enjoy refreshments, including water and fruit, and will receive a custom challenge coin as a memento at the finish line. Limited packet pickup will take place on race day, starting at 5:30 AM, ensuring all participants are prepared for a day of remembrance and celebration alongside the annual Memorial Day services nearby.
