Race Description
The Backroads for Benefield cycling event is set to take place on October 12, 2024, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. This charity ride offers participants the choice of completing either a 31 or 62-mile route, with proceeds directed towards supporting Dr. Scott Benefield and his family following a tragic hit-and-run accident that occurred in August 2023.
Dr. Scott Benefield, a local pediatrician and father of seven, suffered severe injuries from the accident, including a traumatic brain injury. He has been hospitalized in Nashville and is preparing for rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago. The community is rallying to help his family during this challenging time, and this cycling event aims to honor Dr. Benefield's passion for sports and his dedication to community service.
