Race Description
The Arthur E. Schumacher Memorial 5K Race is set to take place on August 17, 2025, as part of the Valley City Street Fair. This annual event honors the memory of Assistant Chief Arthur Schumacher of the Valley City – Liverpool Township Fire Department, who tragically lost his life during a water rescue in 1992. The race serves as a fundraiser for the Arthur E. Schumacher Scholarship Fund, which supports local firefighters in their educational pursuits in fire and EMS services.
Previously affected by the disruptions of the Global Pandemic, the Valley City Firefighters Association is excited to re-launch the event this year. Participants are encouraged to join the community on August 17 at 10 AM for a meaningful celebration that combines fitness with honoring an important local figure.
