The 9th Annual Summer Smith 5k Addiction Awareness Memorial Run is set to take place on May 3, 2025, at Guilderland High School in Guilderland, New York. This annual event aims to honor the memory of Summer Smith, a loving mother who tragically lost her life to addiction, and it promotes awareness surrounding this critical issue. Participants can register for the 5k run or walk, which will begin at 10:00 AM, following a Memorial Ceremony at 9:00 AM.
Funds raised during the event will support various organizations, including the Addiction Care Center of Albany and the Schenectady YWCA, both working to aid individuals and families affected by addiction. Additionally, scholarships will be awarded in Summer's memory to high school students pursuing careers in human or health services. The event seeks to break the stigma associated with addiction and foster a culture of support and recovery in the community.
