Race Description
The 5Kate race is set to take place on October 5th, 2024, at Nay Aug Park in Scranton, PA. This event is held in memory of Kathleen "Katie" Shoener, who tragically lost her life to suicide in 2016. The race aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote compassion for those affected by mental illness. Participants are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes to celebrate Katie's favorite holiday.
Registration for the event opens from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM, with the race commencing at 10:00 AM. All participants will receive a free lunch provided by the Glider Diner after the race. The event will feature various age groups for participants ranging from children to seniors, emphasizing inclusiveness and community support for mental health.
